Senior Category & Insight Manager Job - FMCG - Cambridgeshire

Are you working in category management or insight within the retail, FMCG sector? Perhaps you’ve met a glass ceiling in your current role and are keen for the next step up? Maybe your current product range is obscure and you’re keen to work with a renowned and successful consumer brand?

If any of these ring true, please get in touch as we are working with one of the UK’s leading retail/FMCG businesses, in search of a highly motivated and skilled Senior Category/Insight Manager to join their growing and very successful team. This is an exciting opportunity for an existing category/insight specialist to challenge themselves within this fast-paced, dynamic and globally recognised organisation that has seen significant growth year on year. Candidates must come from category/insight in the FMCG/retail/consumer durables sector and have experience.

Key Requirements:
  1. Ability to analyse/interpret a broad range of both ad hoc and continuous data sources (Nielsen, Kantar, GfK, dunnhumby) and most importantly, pull out key insights to provide tangible recommendations that add value to our business and meet retailer requirements.
  2. Will proactively develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders – become the go-to for advice/guidance/support with category range reviews.
  3. Going to champion the customer internally and work with internal teams to get the right range and activation in store to grow our share and presence in store.
  4. A confident presenter who can create and deliver compelling stories to retailers to increase distribution of our core range and gain listings on new products.
  5. Willing to get stuck into the detail and able to develop our reporting capabilities across key performance indicators like EPOS performance, distribution of key lines, rate of sale, competitor activity and price/promotional analysis.
Applicant Profile:
  1. Knowledge and experience within the FMCG, General Merchandise or Retail sectors.
  2. Knowledge and experience of category management or retail commercial management such as operations or buying.
  3. Advanced Excel required with intermediate to advanced PowerPoint skills also beneficial.
  4. Strong numerical and analytical skills to recognise performance indicators and present findings with action recommendations.
