Job Description
Responsible for delivering a range of housing and property repairs and contracts as directed by the Heating/Electrical Manager. Ensure all works meet the agreed specifications, are of high standard, and are completed within targets. Deploy resources efficiently and effectively, maintaining transparency and robustness in all aspects.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Heating/Electrical Manager and manage the delivery of housing and property repairs and contracts.
- Oversee electrical teams' performance, ensuring efficient and cost-effective resource deployment.
- Liaise with external bodies such as NICEIC, SELECT, SJIB & SECTT, and other registration bodies as required.
- Conduct post-audits of electrical work by other engineers as required by NICEIC. Sign off Electrical Certification as a NICEIC Qualified Supervisor for Moray Council.
- Inspect electrical installations to ensure compliance with IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 and NICEIC standards.
- Identify areas for performance improvement and address poor performance.
- Promote customer care in line with Council policy, ensuring staff prioritize customer needs.
- Support the development of Building Services health and safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Manage buildings, vehicles, and plant under the electrical team's control.
- Undertake training and staff development as required.
The Individual
- NICEIC Qualified Supervisor
- Experience in supervisory/management roles within construction/maintenance.
- Understanding of building maintenance works.
- Electrical qualification at minimum SVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Effective workforce deployment skills.
- Contracts management experience.
- Knowledge of various building trades.
- Ability to travel between work locations within Moray, typically using a car or van.
- Sound judgment and initiative.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proven leadership in a customer-focused environment.
- Adaptability to unpredictable work situations and scheduling.
- Ability to work on-site in construction environments.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours when needed.
- Ability to work effectively in open plan offices and different locations.
This role offers the opportunity to join Moray Council's Building Services team, supporting over 150 staff providing building maintenance and improvement services to the Council's properties, including housing, schools, offices, and libraries.
