Job description

Are you an experienced or recently qualified engineer, looking for an opportunity as a Mechanical Design Applications Engineer? Are you looking for a new opportunity and would like to join an established, successful manufacturing business?


The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of fully automation systems, will work closely with customers to establish the project requirements and will be a key member within the automation team in providing the total solution in line with customer needs.


As a Mechanical Design Applications Engineer, the role will be customer-focused, taking designs from concept to production drawings. They will support specific projects ensuring timescales and budget requirements are achieved and will have a flexible hands-on approach adapting to changes when required.


The Successful Candidate

Should have served a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or similar discipline, ideally to include minimum HNC Level; a demonstrable experience in a similar background would be advantageous.


Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  1. Competent user of 3D design tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  2. Proven record of accomplishment in the design of complex automated systems.
  3. Good telephone manner along with written communication skills.
  4. An aptitude for the workings of machine mechanisms would be useful.
  5. Good skill base across the full range of Microsoft Office products.
  6. Good working knowledge of physics and mathematics.
  7. Practical engineering skills.
  8. Understanding of the design process, development, and project life span stages.

Responsibilities
  1. Designing of automated systems to include the creation of 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
  2. Providing a technical design and customer support service while dealing first-hand with customer application enquiries, by telephone and digital meetings where required.
  3. Working closely with in-house technical team to establish best methods and solutions.
  4. Solving design problems and providing new design solutions to customer's needs.
  5. Checking and validating applications, preparing costings and quotations.
  6. Working with key external strategic partners and suppliers.
  7. Assist in the development of new products in line with the company business objectives.
  8. Creation of project documentation, technical files and similar.
  9. Maintenance of existing product designs records and drawings.

Salary

£40-49K DOE


Normal working hours & shift patterns?

08.00 - 17.00 Mon - Thursday, 08.00 - 14.30 Friday. Work outside of these hours may be required.
