An established industry player is seeking a skilled engineer to enhance parking services in Glasgow. This role involves designing parking control schemes, managing statutory processes, and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations. Reporting to the Group Manager (Parking Services), you will be part of a team responsible for delivering an effective parking service for Glasgow.
Your duties will include designing major parking control schemes and minor parking restriction measures, managing the statutory Traffic Regulation Order process, overseeing works programmes, enforcing existing on-road parking restrictions and bus priority measures, and maintaining the city's parking assets.
You should be capable of producing reports, collating performance data, liaising with external contractors and other agencies, and meeting project deadlines within budget. Additionally, you will provide technical advice, respond to correspondence from the public and elected members, and attend site meetings or public exhibitions as needed.
Essential qualifications include a minimum of an HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, good communication skills, proficient IT skills, and a current UK driving licence. The role also requires the ability to attend meetings outside standard office hours.
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD is essential, and familiarity with KEYLines software within AutoCAD is desirable. An AutoCAD test lasting approximately 10 minutes will be part of the interview process.
Desirable experience includes working in roads, traffic, or road safety environments, report writing, works planning, budget management, and knowledge of UK roads and traffic legislation.
This position offers hybrid working, requiring staff to attend the office at least 60% of the time over a 10-day period.
