Specialist Complex Needs and Behaviour Assistant
Location: East London Area
Contract: Term Time Only, Full-Time (34 hours/week)
An inclusive and forward-thinking special needs setting in East London is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist Complex Needs and Behaviour Assistant to join their team. This is a permanent, term-time position offering an opportunity to work in a rewarding educational environment where pupil wellbeing and progress come first.
The Role:
You will support children aged 3–11 with a wide range of complex needs, including autism, Down syndrome, and social communication difficulties. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff, you'll deliver personalised behavioural support and contribute to a positive, structured learning experience.
This is an ideal role for individuals with experience in behaviour support or specialist SEN settings who are passionate about inclusive education and pupil development.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils with complex learning and behavioural needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Help implement personalised learning and behaviour plans
Foster emotional regulation, communication, and independence
Liaise with educational staff, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support
Contribute to a calm, positive, and inclusive learning environment

A compassionate, resilient professional with experience supporting children with complex needs
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of SEN strategies, safeguarding, and positive behaviour approaches
A growth mindset and willingness to continuously develop your practice
Experience in specialist settings is highly desirable
