Job Title: Senior Scientist - AI/ML for Drug Design

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Senior Scientist specializing in AI/ML to advance drug design efforts. The primary location for this role is in the UK/Europe.

Team and Focus

The Data Science Analytics & Insights team develops innovative solutions across various disease areas, including oncology, cardiovascular, immunology, neuroscience, and infectious diseases. We leverage diverse data sources to inform our research and development efforts.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement AI/ML solutions for drug design, including molecule structure prediction and molecular property prediction.
2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of AI/ML scientists, structural biologists, and computational chemists to design computational approaches and interpret results.
3. Engage in cross-functional collaborations with external partners and internal teams.
4. Contribute to platform development through extensive hands-on coding.
5. Communicate technical methods and findings effectively through presentations, publications, and conferences.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in EE, CS, Statistics, Applied Math, Computational Biology, or related fields.
• Strong background and track record in AI/ML, with publications or patents.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++, and AI frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience with Bayesian Optimization, Probabilistic Machine Learning, Causal Inference, Foundation Models, and Generative Modeling.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Familiarity with drug discovery and clinical development is a plus.
• Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker) is advantageous.
