Charnwood Borough Council is seeking four Principal Planning Officers to manage planning applications and mentor junior staff. This permanent full-time role offers a competitive salary and generous benefits, including professional development opportunities and agile working arrangements.
£42,708 to £45,718 (pro-rata for part time) + Market supplement of £3,000 per year for three years

Following a restructure, the Council is seeking four Principal Planning Officers. We are looking for dedicated individuals who share our passion for making a difference in local communities here in Charnwood, Leicestershire.
The role involves managing a variety of planning applications, including major housing developments and complex proposals. It is ideal for planners seeking a challenge or interested in project work. You will attend Planning Committee, where relevant, to present cases and see them through to determination. You will also mentor and supervise a Planning Assistant and a Planner/Senior Planner, including signing off reports and appeal statements.
An ability to analyze complex planning issues and produce high-quality letters, reports, and evidence statements within deadlines is essential. Strong negotiation skills and recent development management experience are also required to succeed in this fast-paced role.
In return, you will receive support through regular one-on-ones with a Team Leader, access to Continuous Professional Development, and work with a friendly team of Planners of all experience levels.
