Job description

LNT Care Developments is the UK's leading purpose-built residential care home developer and constructor. With over 30 years of innovation within our vertically integrated model, we have perfected care home designs. LNT Construction Limited, part of LNT Care Developments, is seeking a Construction Buyer responsible for the day-to-day purchasing of materials and plant for all sites. The role focuses on identifying, improving, and leading processes and controls within the buying team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Obtain a suitable range of quotes and availability schedules for materials, negotiating effectively to ensure best value.
2. Improve processes and controls across the buying department, working closely with the Head of Procurement and Finance Director.
3. Handle challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials, ensuring minimal disruption in work planning.
4. Identify potential savings through continuous review of product range, supply chain, and construction practices.
5. Advise on the cost impact of supply or schedule changes and variations, liaising with Finance and Site or Contracts Managers.
6. Raise purchase orders for materials and plant.
7. Manage and execute order requisitions from sites.
8. Resolve invoice queries efficiently.
9. Liaise daily with site teams.
10. Identify potential suppliers and new products.
11. Contact suppliers to obtain quotations and agree on delivery times.
12. Work closely with Site Managers to ensure project timelines are maintained.

Key Requirements:

1. Previous experience in buying; experience in construction is preferred but not essential.
2. Sage 200 experience is preferred but not essential.
3. Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
4. Effective communication skills across different organizational levels.
5. Problem-solving skills.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
7. Excellent attention to detail.
