Job description

Pastoral and Spiritual Wellbeing Practitioner with experience in leading spiritual/holistic development activities in an educational setting, possessing empathetic listening skills, the ability to handle sensitive issues, and a developed knowledge of major world religions is required for Avanti Meadows and Avanti Brook Schools, part of Avanti Schools Trust, based in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire.

SALARY: £27,715 - £29,578 FTE / Actual Annual Salary Approx. £13,299 - £14,193 (0.47983 FTE)

LOCATION: Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire (CM23)

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent (Term Time Only)

WORKING HOURS: 22.5 hours per week, term time only

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Pastoral and Spiritual Wellbeing Practitioner with experience in leading spiritual and holistic activities within an educational setting. The ideal candidate will have empathetic listening skills, the ability to handle sensitive issues, and a thorough understanding of major world religions.

As the Pastoral and Spiritual Wellbeing Practitioner, you will foster the holistic development of students and staff—emotionally, spiritually, and mentally—aligned with the schools’ ethos and values.

You will offer one-to-one emotional and spiritual support, facilitate reflective discussion groups for pupils, staff, and parents, and contribute to the spiritual and emotional wellbeing programs of the schools.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teaching, pastoral, and inclusion teams to enhance overall wellbeing and chaplaincy services.
  • Plan and deliver assemblies, workshops, and outreach activities; create wellbeing resources.
  • Develop and evaluate the chaplaincy program, support induction of new members, and nurture a spiritually supportive school culture.
  • Provide individual emotional and spiritual support to students.
  • Facilitate spiritual insight discussion groups for staff, students, and parents.
  • Offer support and guidance during bereavement and social or personal difficulties.
  • Support heads of year and the inclusion team as part of the wellbeing system.
  • Design and deliver workshops for festivals and special days.
  • Create wellbeing content such as videos and newsletters.
  • Assist in the induction of new staff and students.
