Role Description

The Dangerous Goods Instructor or ADR Instructor is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs related to the safe handling, transportation, and regulatory compliance of dangerous goods. This role ensures that all personnel involved in the transport of hazardous materials are properly trained according to applicable regulations (e.g., IATA, IMDG, ICAO or ADR), helping to maintain legal compliance and promote a strong safety culture.

Working Conditions

  • May involve occasional travel to client sites or remote training locations.
  • Training delivery may include classroom, online, and on-site sessions.
  • Flexible working hours may be required to accommodate global operations

Position Responsibilities

The instructor is responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Design and deliver training courses on dangerous goods handling, including initial, recurrent, and specialised courses for air, sea, road, or multimodal transport.
  • Ensure training content complies with international and national regulations and guidelines.
  • Assess trainee competence through examinations, practical assessments, and evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate training records and certificates of completion.
  • Stay current with changes in regulations and update course materials accordingly.
  • Support the development of e-learning modules and blended learning formats.
  • Conduct internal audits or inspections related to dangerous goods compliance when required.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice to company departments and external clients.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and accreditation organisations as needed.

Selection Criteria - Essential

  • Certification as a Dangerous Goods Instructor or ADR Instructor
  • Experience delivering training across different modes of transport (air, sea, and road)
  • Teaching Qualification (Level 3 or higher)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in dangerous goods handling or transport (preferably in a training or supervisory role).
  • Strong knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations (e.g., IATA, ICAO, IMDG, ADR).
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to tailor training to different roles and experience levels.
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills.

Selection Criteria - Desirable but not Essential.

  • Forklift Operator Certificate
  • DGSA Certification
