Wimbledon College is a popular, oversubscribed school that prides itself on excellent GCSE and A level results, well above national averages. As a Jesuit school, our ethos aligns with St Ignatius Loyola’s vision for Jesuit education, aiming for "improvement in living and learning for the greater glory of God and the common good." Central to this vision is the education of the whole person, encouraging each pupil to strive for excellence.
The school is housed in striking Grade II listed buildings on Edge Hill, above the Sacred Heart parish church, on a spacious green site within a conservation area. Significant development of facilities has occurred over the past fifteen years, supported by private and public funds.
With nearly 1300 boys on roll, including 270 in Sixth Form, Wimbledon College offers a supportive environment with a committed staff. All teachers are specialists in their subjects, and a well-established CPD program promotes collaborative research and pedagogy.
The school has a strong pastoral system, with teachers acting as form tutors and working with Heads of Line to support and challenge students. The intake is diverse, drawing from across southwest London, Surrey, and beyond, with over 40 different schools represented last year. Places in Year 7 are highly oversubscribed.
Students are encouraged to participate in over 80 extracurricular clubs, including a rich tradition in drama, music, and sports, supported by parental donations.
Leavers' reflections highlight a strong sense of community, personal growth, and the school's focus on developing well-rounded individuals who are prepared for the future. Students appreciate the caring staff, the opportunities provided, and the school's emphasis on leadership and service.
