Head of Art / Design and Technology Teacher - Secondary School, Oxford

Position: Head of Art / Design and Technology (Full-Time)
Start Date: April 2025
Salary: Paid to Scale.

We are seeking an exceptional and visionary Head of Art / Design and Technology to lead our creative departments at a thriving secondary school in Oxford. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to shape the future of our Art and Design and Technology curriculum, lead a dynamic team, and inspire students to explore their creative potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Art and Design & Technology departments, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups.
  • Develop and implement an inspiring curriculum that encourages students to think creatively, solve problems, and explore new techniques and technologies.
  • Motivate, support, and mentor staff within the department, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and departmental performance, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Organise and lead extracurricular activities such as exhibitions, workshops, and design challenges, enriching the students' learning experiences.
  • Contribute to whole-school development and initiatives, working closely with senior leadership to shape the strategic direction of the school.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership experience in teaching Art and/or Design and Technology at the secondary school level.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and up-to-date teaching practices in both Art and Design & Technology.
  • A track record of delivering outstanding results and fostering creativity in students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and lead a team, as well as work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
  • A passion for nurturing creativity and encouraging students to express themselves through a variety of media and techniques.
