Where you fit in

You will play a key role in the UK/Continental Power Trading Desk, as part of a team focusing on trading and managing positions with a flexible, spread or option element across the European markets.


The UK/Continental Power Trading team, part of Shell Energy Europe & Africa's (SE-EA) European Power Trading, is responsible for proprietary trading and managing a growing portfolio including customer demand, renewable energy, batteries, and thermal generation. The team manages exposures from the curve to delivery.


SE-EA trades natural gas, power, green power certificates, and environmental products with various counterparties including resource holders, upstream producers, banks, utilities, generators, and large industrial users.


What’s the role?

Your main responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting the management of exposures from existing flex, interconnector, and option structures.
  2. Trading liquid options and market-making in illiquid options where applicable.
  3. Supporting bidding and optimization of cross-border capacities.
  4. Collaborating with customers and business development to introduce new structures with embedded optionality.
  5. Developing tools to value, price, manage, and monetize option structures.
  6. Ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and authorities.
  7. Coaching and educating junior colleagues.

What we need from you

We seek experienced trading professionals, ideally with:

  • European power option trading and pricing experience.
  • Experience in asset-backed trading (not mandatory).
  • Experience working with origination of deals with embedded optionality.
