Job Summary

This vacancy is being advertised by 'One Wight Health (GP Federation) on behalf of Argyll House GP Surgery.

Argyll House Surgery will be the employer for this post.

Hours: 30 per week

Salary: Dependent on experience

We are excited to be expanding our existing team! We are seeking a self-motivated individual with excellent attention to detail. The successful candidate must have exceptional people skills and an interest/background in healthcare experience preferred.

Experience using SystmOne is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

To provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

About Us

Argyll House Surgery has been providing an excellent standard of medical care to thousands of patients in Ryde, Wootton Bridge and the surrounding villages for more than 25 years.

Our team includes a fulltime GP, two part-time GPs, two practice nurses, and one healthcare assistant as well as a Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Manager, reception and secretarial staff. We run a full range of general practice services with special clinics for babies, pregnant women and patients with certain conditions. At the surgery we aim to treat all patients promptly, courteously and in complete confidence.

Job Responsibilities
Reception Duties
  • Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
  • Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address
  • Covering all reception positions as necessary
  • Processing appointment requests/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person
  • Dealing with patient visits/requests
  • Registering new patients, data entry, and updating medical records
  • Processing patients' changes of address in computer data and medical records
  • Processing blood test requests and generating appointments as per GP request
Telephone
  • Knowledge of telephone/bleep system during and after hours
  • Polite, friendly, approachable telephone manner
  • Experience dealing with difficult or agitated patients
  • Answering and making calls following practice protocol
Other Tasks
  • Clearing rooms after surgeries
  • Ensuring building security
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers
Person Specification
