Working across all areas of the organisation, this role will be an integral part of the SHEQ team, responsible for supporting the implementation and compliance of the environmental management system, health and safety compliance, and sustainability initiatives across the RBL Group and partner charities.

Promoting a positive environmental and safety culture, you will work with colleagues to ensure an environmentally aware workplace that complies with legislative requirements and aims to reduce environmental impact. You will also ensure a safe working environment with established safe working procedures.

Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a central point of focus and responsibility for all RBL matters relating to the environment, embedding good practice and driving performance.
  • Support teams and work across the organisation to deliver improvements in environmental impacts in line with legal requirements and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with SHE Advisers and other experts to identify, assess, and control environmental and health and safety risks arising from policies, strategies, operations, and supply chains to ensure legal and internal compliance.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and practical training to RBL employees and volunteers on environmental, safety, and sustainability matters.
  • Support the Head of SHEQ in developing and delivering reports to the Executive Board and annual statements for publication.

This role is a 12-month fixed-term position, starting immediately or on short notice. Internal applicants should discuss their application with their line manager and obtain approval.

You will hold current Environmental and H&S qualifications and a full driving license. Membership of IEMA and/or IOSH is advantageous. You should have demonstrable multi-site experience in operational environmental and H&S roles, with good knowledge of statutory environment requirements, regulations, standards, and codes of practice.

This position is based at your home address with remote work, and occasional travel to RBL sites, including care homes.

  • Generous pension contributions, with employer contributions ranging from 6% to 14%.
  • Flexible working options may be available depending on the role.
  • Employee Assistance Programme offering confidential counselling, financial, and legal advice.
  • Training courses to support your development goals.
  • Opportunities to volunteer.
