DESCRIPTION

Amazon, founded in 1995, aims to be the world's most customer-centric company, offering a vast selection of products online.

The successful candidate will be a vital part of the Operations team, responsible for project managing the planning, design, and construction of new Amazon Delivery Stations (DS), including extensions of existing facilities and new sites. This role involves developing and implementing the EU network infrastructure, analyzing facility scenarios, and standardizing technical and facility processes and systems.

This position combines construction engineering, planning, project management, and contract management. The candidate should have proven experience in planning, designing, and managing projects related to new and existing facility buildings.

The role is based in the UK, with frequent travel across various locations within the UK.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee construction engineering, planning, and design for DS and other expansion projects.
  2. Support projects related to new fulfillment network buildings and capacity expansion within existing facilities.
  3. Conduct construction engineering design for new and remodel projects.
  4. Prepare reports, specifications, and technical analyses to define design requirements and equipment needs.
  5. Provide technical guidance on engineering design, AutoCAD, building layouts, and material specifications.
  6. Survey facilities, develop procedures for facility audits, and recommend solutions for infrastructure, safety, and security issues.
  7. Negotiate contracts with vendors, ensuring they meet project needs and include appropriate SLAs.
  8. Manage site activities, coordinate planning, and oversee subcontractors.
  9. Participate in due diligence for new opportunities.
  10. Coach and guide project teams throughout project lifecycle.
  11. Ensure contracted resources meet quality and timeline targets, addressing underperformance.
  12. Audit contractors for skills and competence, and inform them of resource changes.
  13. Establish and manage information systems for scheduling and recording work.
  14. Support contractor performance and help achieve higher efficiency.
  15. Mentor new team members on best practices.
  16. May have direct reports.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent internal Amazon experience.
  • Experience in project/portfolio management from design through operation.
  • Leadership skills to manage teams.
  • Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of French, German, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans, or Zulu.

The role offers opportunities for travel within the UK and to other EMEA countries, with up to 50% travel required.
