Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a care role, ideally with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Medication Administration Training (Preferred).
  • Genuine passion for caring for others.

Job Title: Senior Day Carer

Location: Victoria House, 22 Nelson Place, Ryde, Isle of Wight PO33 2ET

Job Type: 36 hours a week

Hours: 7am - 7pm or 7am - 2pm or 2pm - 7pm shifts

Pay: £13.50 per hour

Victoria House is a small, home-from-home residential care home. An 1810 Victorian house set back from Ryde Esplanade with sea views.

We are a small team committed to providing the highest standard of care in a warm, supportive, and person-centred environment. We believe every resident deserves dignity, respect, and a meaningful quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading, supervising, and mentoring care staff during shifts
  • Administering and assisting with medication in line with care plans and policies
  • Monitoring the health and wellbeing of residents
  • Communicating effectively with families and healthcare professionals
  • Assisting residents with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
  • Supporting residents at mealtimes
  • Helping with mobility and daily activities
  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Maintaining accurate care records
  • Promoting dignity, choice, and independence at all times
About You:
  • Genuine passion for caring for others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, patient, and empathetic
  • Compassionate, with a person-centred approach
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Previous experience in a care role, ideally with supervisory responsibilities
  • Strong leadership skills
