Job Title: Alternative Provision Manager
Hours of Work:
Term time, 8am-4pm
Grade / Salary:
GBP36,000 + (dependent upon experience)
Reporting To:
Senior Leader in charge of Alternative Provision
Main Objectives:
- Support the Co-Headteachers and Senior Leader in charge of Alternative Provision.
- Oversee and deliver soft skills programmes within specific initiatives:
- The Breathing Space Programme
- The KS4 offer
- Line manage the support team within the provision.
- Liaise with external provisions.
Main Responsibilities/Key Tasks:
General:
- Deputise for the Senior Leader as needed, including when not onsite.
- Be onsite by 8am to prepare for a 9am start.
- Welcome students upon arrival and ensure they are in their allocated sessions.
- Monitor attendance and follow protocols.
- Coordinate off-site student departure monitoring.
- Communicate with parents/carers at start, end, and as necessary during the programme.
- Conduct home visits and monitor non-attending pupils.
- Participate in daily briefings.
Management:
- Line manage the TA team.
- Manage relationships with agencies, providers, and stakeholders.
- Oversee KS4 exams coordination.
Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with the Senior Leader to develop the curriculum and map.
- Coordinate personalised student timetables with external professionals.
- Implement and adapt the curriculum based on student progress.
- Adjust curriculum if providers are unavailable.
- Develop and deliver soft skills programmes, including mentoring and emotional literacy, involving external agencies.
Liaison with Home Schools and Professionals:
- Establish regular contact schedules with homes.
- Network with relevant professionals.
- Participate in and facilitate professional meetings to monitor student progress.
- Arrange additional support and external workshops as needed.
- Coordinate with SEND team for assessments and support.
- Manage transition information back to home schools.
Safeguarding:
- Gather safeguarding information from homes and schools, including risk assessments.
- Ensure safeguarding practices are followed.
- Maintain a student log shared with the DSL, documenting referrals and follow-up actions.
- Make MASH or other referrals when necessary.
- Collaborate with home schools and DSL on safeguarding concerns.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Transition:
- Maintain daily contact with the Senior Leader in charge of AP.
- Hold weekly meetings with the Senior Leader.
- Write exit reports at the end of each student's term on the Breathing Space programme.
- Prepare termly reports on student progress, including feedback from children and professionals, and share with parents with an action plan.
Reporting:
- Present a termly report to the Senior Leader.
- Prepare an annual report with the Senior Lead Alternative Provision for the Governing Body.
