Job description

Buyer Required to join a leading UK wholesaler to support large-scale company growth. Our client has an annual turnover exceeding £66 million and aims to expand further in 2024 at their Rochdale site.

The company specializes in the Retail and FMCG sectors, working with some of the biggest industry-leading brands. They supply a wide range of products to customers across the UK, including Crisps and Snacks, Household Goods, Toiletries, Groceries, Pet Care, and Alcoholic beverages such as Beer, Wines, and Spirits.

Buyer Overview

• Manage a portfolio with procurement exceeding £5M annually across key categories and suppliers.
• Achieve category growth objectives.
• Maintain stock levels within agreed parameters.
• Mitigate cost price increases.
• Define category strategy, range, pricing, and promotional activities in collaboration with the Senior Buyer.
• Source the best deals by leveraging your network.
• Negotiate Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and marketing activities with manufacturers and suppliers.
• Manage supplier payments and terms to optimize cash flow.
• Oversee orders, deliveries, and transportation to maximize profitability.
• Build and develop relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Manage the promotional calendar for your categories.

Buyer Job Requirements

• Proven experience as an FMCG buyer.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Problem-solving mentality.
