Job Advert - Division Information:

The role provides a great opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to advance his/her career in developing further clinical skills in both mental and physical health as well as prescribing medication, while working with a highly motivated and dynamic team of Consultant Psychiatrists, Neuropsychologist, Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist, SALT and other multidisciplinary team members. There is opportunity and expectation to join a weekly medical meeting/teaching and participate in quality improvement and clinical governance activities. There is also a potential opportunity to enrol in training for further development.

The Role of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner includes but is not limited to:

  1. Assessment of admissions and contribution to care planning
  2. Deliver physical health care, conduct relevant investigations and treatments and respond to emergencies
  3. Prescribe medication within their competencies
  4. On call cover
  5. Good record keeping including preparation of reports (discharge summaries, CPA reports, referrals)
  6. Daily emergency medical rota, seclusion and enhanced care reviews
  7. Prioritise preventative healthcare to improve outcome
  8. Participate in quality improvement activities including teaching

The successful candidate should have the following attributes:

  1. Registered Nurse Qualification (RMN or RGN) with a Valid NMC PIN
  2. Nurse prescriber, or working toward achieving this
  3. Experience in physical health or general nursing would be an advantage
  4. To be a team player and responsive to service needs
  5. To be self-aware, seeking support and advice when required
  6. Good listening and rapport building ability
  7. To be able to organise and prioritise own time

Experience in a neuro/stroke rehabilitation is preferable but not essential.
