Job Description

About the role

Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Water (Infrastructure) – Balfour Beatty (@one Alliance)

@one Alliance is a partnership of eight leading companies—Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO—delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. As we enter AMP8, our most ambitious Asset Management Period, we are preparing to undertake our largest project yet. This is a unique opportunity to drive industry change, set global standards, and foster career growth.

We are seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer in our Water (Infrastructure) team with a focus on potable water infrastructure (pipelines).

As the Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide civil and pipeline engineering technical reviews, guidance, and inputs to potable water (clean) and water recycling (wastewater) infrastructure projects. You will support design efforts for various infrastructure schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and compliant with legislation and standards.

What you'll be doing

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with Design Managers and Technical Managers to track milestones and review dates.
  • Working with Principal Engineers to improve design calculations, standards, and products.
  • Reviewing project drawings, calculations, and change requests for standards compliance and responsiveness.
  • Leading design review meetings and contributing to CDM and commissioning strategies.
  • Maintaining quality via Autodesk Construction Cloud workflows and supporting engineers to meet deadlines.
  • Promoting innovative technologies, managing technical knowledge, and adhering to MAS standards.
  • Mentoring engineers to develop skills and standard procedures.
Who we're looking for

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Preferably a degree in water/wastewater engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience as a technical expert in designing potable and wastewater pipelines, including quality assurance and risk management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

The Lead Infrastructure Engineer role focuses on providing technical leadership across project portfolios rather than delivering individual projects. If you are eager to lead and advance your engineering career, apply today!
