Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Abernethy site. The successful candidate will assist the Engineering team with routine planned maintenance, equipment breakdowns, and servicing.

At Branston, potatoes are our core business, supplying both fresh and prepared products to one of the UK's largest retailers. The role is based at our Fresh factory, which has recently undergone significant upgrades, including new automation and machinery as part of our continuous improvement initiatives.

The environment within food manufacturing is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring adaptability and responsiveness to a varied workload. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assisting the engineering team with routine maintenance checks on all site machinery and equipment.
• Supporting equipment breakdowns and servicing to minimize operational disruption.
• Adhering to site health and safety protocols, reporting concerns to the Engineering Manager.
• Assisting with the installation and development of new projects and equipment.
• Organizing stores to ensure adequate stock of parts, submitting orders to the Engineering Manager as needed.
• Recording tasks accurately on daily shift reports.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Modern apprenticeship Level 6 in mechanical/electrical engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Logical thinker with attention to detail.

Driving license and own transport are essential due to shift patterns and location.

Shift Pattern: Rotational

3 months day shift:

• Wednesday - Saturday, 06:00 - 16:30

1 month night shift:

• Week 1 & 3: Tuesday - Thursday, 18:00 - 04:30
• Week 2 & 4: Monday - Thursday & Sunday, 18:00 - 04:30

Additional 12.5% night shift premium applies.
