Environmental Health Officer

Job Introduction

We are seeking a qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our dedicated Environmental Health Team. Our team is committed to protecting public health through proactive and reactive work programmes, focusing on food hygiene, health and safety, and infectious disease control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct food hygiene inspections as part of our food inspections programme.
• Investigate complaints related to food safety, hygiene, foodborne illnesses, workplace health and safety, and accidents.
• Collaborate with experienced officers to deliver excellent regulatory services, including work across disciplines such as port health, commercial nuisance, and planning to meet service objectives.
• Participate in projects covering food hygiene, health and safety, infectious diseases, port health, and nuisance, including some out-of-hours and on-call work.

Ideal Candidate:

• Degree in Environmental Health.
• Completed Environmental Health Practitioner Portfolio or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with inspection, investigation, and testing procedures.
• Knowledge of PACE and RIPA legislation.
• Experience in conducting investigations, inspections, interviews under caution, and enforcement activities.
• Effective planning and organization skills.
• Strong communication and persuasion skills, with the ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences.
• Experience in food safety, health and safety, and infectious disease control.
• Approachable with excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize workload independently.
