About Us:

We are a specialist recruitment company partnering with a leading property management and hospitality group to find a skilled and motivated Assistant Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional looking to advance their career within a dynamic and growing business.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Group Head of Finance, the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for supporting the finance team in key accounting functions, including bookkeeping, VAT returns, month-end processes, and financial reporting. This role offers exposure to property and hospitality finance, with the opportunity to take on more responsibility as the business expands. Study support will be provided for the right candidate who is working towards a professional qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts and financial reports for multiple group companies.
  2. Perform daily bookkeeping, including processing purchase and sales ledger transactions.
  3. Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial records.
  4. Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  5. Manage expenses, credit card transactions, petty cash analysis, and reconciliations.
  6. Handle service charge and rental invoicing, ensuring timely reconciliation.
  7. Maintain and update fixed asset registers, including depreciation calculations.
  8. Support month-end processes, including supplier payment runs and journal postings.
  9. Work collaboratively with the finance team on ad-hoc financial reports and tender documents related to the property and hospitality sector.
Person Specification:
  1. Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience with at least 2-3 years of relevant finance experience.
  2. Strong understanding of bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  3. Experience in the property or hospitality sectors is desirable but not essential.
  4. Proficient in MS Office Suite; familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Xero is an advantage.
  5. Analytical and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Motivated, eager to learn, and keen to develop within a professional finance team.
