Project Engineer – Asset Management - Integrity

Location – Renfrew

The Project Engineering team within our Asset Management division provides support services across the Nuclear, Process, Power Generation, and Oil & Gas sectors throughout their asset lifecycle. We have an opportunity for a Project Engineer to join us in Renfrew, working as part of a team providing expertise across the group and the wider Asset Management business.

Main duties:
  • Managing or providing technical support for engineering projects
  • Participating in tenders; defining scopes of work, identifying client needs, and preparing technical proposals and cost estimates
  • Developing supply chain contacts for complex projects
  • Preparing and managing MS Project schedules, resource plans, and project reports
  • Providing technical support to Asset Management Contracts
  • Writing reports, specifications, and technical documents
  • Serving as the client’s point of contact from project kick-off to close-out
  • Preparing work packs and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
  • Preparing Inspection and Test plans and ensuring quality assurance requirements are met
  • Facilitating communication between engineering disciplines and stakeholders
  • Managing project changes effectively
  • Implementing risk management processes
  • Developing strong stakeholder management and client interfacing skills
  • Building relationships with internal and external customers and organizations

Site-based work may be required. As a Project Engineer, you will oversee engineering, procurement, manufacturing, fabrication, and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and budget parameters. You will work across various engineering disciplines, fostering collaboration within Asset Management and the broader Altrad Babcock organization.

Your projects will involve:
  • Design Coordination – Managing design inputs from in-house and external contractors, proactively resolving design issues, and overseeing development
  • Procurement Assistance – Supporting procurement through technical specifications, tender reviews, purchase requisitions, and inspection processes
  • Fabrication Monitoring – Coordinating with fabricators, inspecting equipment deliveries, managing fabrication processes, and overseeing inspection plans
  • Project Management – Leading project teams, monitoring budgets, maintaining communication, and managing client changes

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant Engineering degree or MEng (or be working towards one), with practical experience in relevant industries, preferably including nuclear or manufacturing projects. A formal project management qualification is preferred but not essential.
