Field Sales Executive

Location: Nottingham and Leicester

Hours of Work: 9 am to 5 pm

Role involves being field-based with HQ visits and offsite meetings.

Salary: up to £25,000-£27,000 per annum plus a 10% performance-related bonus. Benefits include a laptop, phone, group benefits (DIS, Pension, Health Shield Cash Back Plan), 20 days holidays plus 8 bank holidays, and a company van or car.

Instore, part of Smiths News, is recruiting a Field Sales Representative to expand retail distribution by selling products within the Independent Retail Sector (Convenience, CTN, Grocery, etc.). Candidates should have experience in field sales and demonstrate their abilities to join our team on behalf of our global client.

The client is a well-known household brand supplying most supermarkets, high street stores, garden centres, and e-commerce platforms.

Their product range and displays are ideal for the independent market, offering high-quality products at various price points, seasonal ranges, attractive margins, and ongoing retailer support through engaging marketing strategies. Our client has partnered with Instore to provide its field sales services.

This role covers a designated territory, requiring visits to retailers to promote new service offerings. The salesperson acts as the key link between the brand and Smiths News/Instore, ensuring effective communication.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales and distribution targets to meet KPIs across various accounts, engaging with business owners.
  • Build strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for increased distribution.
  • Adopt an entrepreneurial approach.
  • Identify Key Accounts with bulk distribution potential.
  • Enhance brand presence within the trade.
  • Complete all calls within the territory plan daily.
  • Develop a high-performing field sales mentality to meet KPIs.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and keep the Line Manager informed.
  • Proactively escalate and resolve issues.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the client’s business and products.
  • Deliver high standards in all tasks.
  • Provide quality feedback to the line manager to support business growth.
  • Complete administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Understand the retail landscape to leverage competitor and seasonal opportunities.
  • Utilize tools to ensure ongoing customer orders and understand Smiths News delivery network.

To succeed, you should have:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Relevant sales or retail experience, preferably in FMCG or consumer goods.
  • Experience as a Brand Ambassador is a plus.
  • Strong relationship-building and sales techniques.
  • Experience in remote field activities and achieving sales targets.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Proven success in sales conversions through education.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to influence change.
  • Documented ideas and actions to improve performance.
