NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate has an opportunity for an outstanding individual to lead the clinical pharmacy team providing services to Endocrine and Cardiology services, offering direct patient care, clinical leadership, and management excellence. The Directorate has published a two-year pharmacy strategy, and this role is key to its implementation.
We seek an innovative, ambitious individual to develop and lead our pharmacy services for Endocrine and Cardiology in NHS Fife. This is an exciting period, marked by the establishment of a pharmacist-led clinic, with this role being a prominent member of the clinical MDTs, Managed Clinical Network, and the Fife Diabetes Safety group.
As the Senior Clinical Pharmacist, you will oversee a team of junior and specialist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe, effective, and optimal use of medicines, communicating complex information to clinicians, nurses, prescribers, carers, and patients, and implementing clinical pathways in line with national guidelines.
You will manage patients with various conditions, ideally as an independent prescriber, participating in ward rounds and pharmacist-led clinics to maximize pharmaceutical contributions. You will also contribute to clinical governance, education, training, medicine efficiencies, risk management, and audits within this specialty.
The ideal candidate is dynamic, enthusiastic, compassionate, with a proven track record in service development. They should be self-motivated, capable of working independently or within a team, and possess excellent communication skills to build relationships with colleagues and healthcare professionals. Experience in a clinical setting and staff management is essential. A non-medical prescribing qualification is desirable.
NHS Fife's Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate offers an ambitious integrated care program for approximately 380,000 residents, supported by around 300 pharmacy staff across various settings, including hospitals, general practices, and mental health services. Collaboration and partnership are core values, with a focus on delivering high-quality care.
