A leading council in Scotland seeks a Solicitor (Employment and Regulation) to provide legal advice and support. The role requires a qualified solicitor with experience in local authority matters. We are looking for a confident and positive individual to support the work of Legal Services by providing professional legal advice and support as required across the range of work carried out by the Service on behalf of the Council.
You must be a fully qualified solicitor and hold a Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent, as well as a current unrestricted Practising Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland. You will have recent experience of sheriff court or tribunal work in relation to local authority licensing and/or employment matters and be able to demonstrate well developed advocacy and negotiation skills. You will have a good understanding of, and ideally experience of, local authority litigation work, including work in the key areas of employment and licensing as well as other service areas as required.
With the ability to adapt to change, work to deadlines and manage a large, diverse caseload, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with minimum supervision.

The role will be varied and challenging and you will be able to carry out a range of tasks within a broad remit and manage a demanding workload with minimum supervision. It is also essential that you have effective interpersonal, communication and advocacy skills, together with the ability to work as part of a team.
