Independent Fostering Reviewing Officer (IRO)

Are you an experienced fostering professional seeking a flexible and rewarding role? We are looking for dedicated Independent Fostering Reviewing Officers (IROs) to join our client’s team.

Flexible, Remote Position – Work from home with the requirement to conduct face-to-face visits with foster carers, enabling a good work-life balance and schedule flexibility, while making a positive impact on foster carers and children.

Diverse Coverage Area – Work across East Midlands, Northern Lincolnshire, South Lincolnshire, East Riding of Yorkshire, and the North West, providing opportunities to engage with various foster carers and settings, expanding your experience and network.

Strong Organisational Support – Operate within a supportive framework with clear policies and procedures, backed by a stable and well-structured organisation that provides robust support.

Continuous Professional Development – Access ongoing training and development to stay current with best practices, policies, and research, keeping your skills relevant and sharp.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and chair Foster Carer Reviews.
  • Complete review reports and present them to the Fostering Panel as needed.
  • Develop reviewing service practice, policies, and systems.
  • Ensure reviews are conducted within set timescales and follow organisational policies.
  • Communicate effectively with foster carers, children, and relevant professionals to ensure comprehensive, child-centered reviews.
  • Address performance or practice issues promptly with the Fostering Service Manager.
  • Prepare for audits and OFSTED inspections.
  • Promote the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children, following safeguarding procedures.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Care
  • Experience in fostering social care, preferably as an IRO
