Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a part-time Infant Feeding Lead Midwife at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW). The experienced Midwife will be responsible for providing managerial support and clinical expertise within the Women's and Children's services in all aspects of infant feeding.

Main duties of the job
  1. Provide specialist expertise and advice in the clinical areas and work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams.
  2. Monitor and maintain standards of care in accordance with trust policies, guidelines, protocols, and professional regulations.
  3. Adopt a multi-professional approach to care with mothers, families, healthcare professionals, and other agencies and organizations including UNICEF and ICS.
  4. Advise the clinical areas in assisting women to overcome complex feeding issues and develop plans of care in line with local and national guidance.

Job responsibilities
  1. Provide specialist expertise and advice in clinical areas, including Antenatal and Postnatal care, working closely with Infant Feeding Nurses within the Neonatal Unit and Children's Services.
  2. Monitor and maintain standards of care according to trust policies, guidelines, protocols, and professional regulations.
  3. Adopt a multi-professional approach to care with mothers, families, healthcare professionals, and other agencies such as UNICEF and CCG.
  4. Manage the ordering, distribution, and monitoring of equipment and resources for infant feeding.
  5. Ensure the safe operation of infant feeding equipment and train staff and women on its safe use.
  6. Assist women in overcoming complex feeding issues and develop care plans aligned with local and national guidelines.
  7. Participate in the on-call rota and undertake clinical shifts as needed.
