The Role

We have an exciting opening for a Project Engineering Manager within the RF Power division in Chelmsford. You will manage one of the RF Power project streams—Pulse Power, Tubes, or Novel Systems (MPMs/TWTA, RFSS)—ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. These include multiple projects, both customer-facing and internal R&D initiatives.

What Will You Be Doing
  • Coordinate engineering teams, other departments, and third-party suppliers for project success.
  • Define, communicate, and ensure delivery of roles and tasks.
  • Plan, budget, and resource projects effectively to meet program goals.
  • Regularly review project progress, assessing time, cost, quality, and risks.
  • Manage scope changes and stakeholder involvement, assessing impacts and communicating approvals.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about progress, risks, and resource utilization.
  • Manage relationships with customers and stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with internal project management processes.
  • Implement and improve project delivery methodologies, embracing best practices and new techniques.
  • Support business development efforts and strategic planning.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and resource allocation.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, and participate in recruitment decisions.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Extensive experience managing engineering projects from bid to production.
  • Proven ability to energize teams and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and commercial awareness.
  • Sound judgment on when to own, brief, or escalate issues.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project and enterprise tools; familiarity with SAP is advantageous.
  • Qualification in project management methodologies is desirable.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance and a UK National.
