Overview

The Interventional Radiology Per Diem Physician Assistant assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician. Performs the duties and responsibilities of a Physician Assistant according to customary and generally accepted medical standards.

Responsibilities
  • Obtains detailed and accurate patient histories, identifies problems, and presents information to the supervising physician.
  • Charts via written, dictation, or electronic means: admission notes, history and physical examinations, consultations, daily patient encounter notes, urgent evaluation notes, minor procedure notes, and brief post-operative notes for inpatient or outpatient settings.
  • Prescribes medications under supervision of a licensed physician, in accordance with federal and state laws, including controlled substances with appropriate licensing.
  • Assists surgeons and physicians in the operating room and procedure rooms as needed, including writing post-operative notes and orders.
  • Manages post-procedure patient care, including starting IVs, inserting Foley catheters and nasogastric tubes, and ordering transfusions.
  • Exhibits organizational, communication, and leadership skills; demonstrates initiative, accountability, and sound judgment.
  • Supports office functions, manages prescription prior authorizations, and assists with insurance and patient message issues.
  • Participates in research and adapts care to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Acts as a resource to healthcare personnel and participates in educational programs.
  • Greets patients and visitors courteously, ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Adheres to hospital standards, safety policies, and organizational competencies.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an accredited physician's assistant program.
  • Minimum of two years experience as a Physician Assistant.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Physician Assistant License.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
