As a Remote Interpreter, your main responsibility will be to facilitate communication between clients and individuals with limited English proficiency. You will work remotely, providing interpreting services over the phone or via video calls. Your excellent language skills will be essential in interpreting conversations accurately and efficiently across various professional settings.

Please note: This is a self-employed position.

Requirements
The Job
  • Interpreting between English and your native language over the phone or video calls.
  • Providing interpretation services to clients with limited English proficiency.
  • Interpreting for legal, health, and local government services.
  • Checking the understanding of non-English speakers after each sentence.
  • Performing conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting.
  • Providing accurate, confidential, and impartial interpreting services.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the Code of Conduct.
About You
  • Fluent in English and another language, such as Luganda.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Be aged 21 or over.
  • Possess relevant qualifications, such as:
    • Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
    • Community Interpreting
    • NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registration (advantageous)
    • Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages
    • Other interpreting-related qualifications
