Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services
Location: London, UK
Salary: Up to 58,000 per annum

My client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its dynamic London team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in large–scale residential projects to contribute to the delivery of high–profile residential and hotel developments across the UK and internationally.

With a portfolio of large residential and hospitality projects, the team works on prestigious developments that shape skylines and communities around the world.

The Role

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems, ensuring they meet client and regulatory requirements while pushing the boundaries of sustainability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the mechanical design of large–scale residential and hotel projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with industry standards.
  2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including sustainability consultants and electrical engineers, to develop integrated and efficient building systems.
  3. Produce detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and calculations using industry–leading software.
  4. Attend client meetings, providing technical expertise and solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  5. Conduct site visits and inspections to oversee project progress and ensure quality standards are met.
  6. Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical development within the team.
  7. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance project efficiency and sustainability.
Key Requirements:
  1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  2. Extensive experience working on large–scale residential projects in the UK, with additional hospitality sector experience beneficial.
  3. Proficiency in mechanical design software, including IES, Hevacomp, and Revit.
  4. Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, CIBSE standards, and sustainability principles.
  5. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and disciplines.
