Location: Derbyshire, East Midlands

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 (DOE) + £6,500 car allowance

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Days

Join a growing engineering organization. We’re seeking an experienced Head of Electrical Operations to lead and expand our electrical projects across multiple sites. This senior leadership role includes full P&L responsibility, managing a team of Project Managers, Engineers, and Supervisors delivering projects up to £1M+ in value.

You will be responsible for driving operational performance, ensuring compliance with industry standards (BS 7671, NICEIC), managing key client relationships, and supporting strategic growth across the Midlands.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the successful delivery of electrical installation, maintenance, and upgrade projects valued up to £1M+
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Oversee daily operations and strategic planning to support business growth and client satisfaction
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with FMCG clients, ensuring high service standards and repeat business
  • Handle forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and financial performance of the electrical division
  • Ensure compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition), NICEIC regulations, and safety legislation
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution, labor utilization, and resource management
Requirements:
  • Apprentice-trained in Electrical Engineering with an HNC or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Ideally 10 years of experience in electrical project management within manufacturing or FMCG environments
  • Deep knowledge of BS 7671 wiring regulations, NICEIC standards, and inspection/testing (2391)
  • Proven leadership in managing teams, client relationships, and high-value projects
  • Experience with control systems, instrumentation, and process electrical installations
  • Strong commercial acumen, including budgeting and financial reporting
  • SSSTS/SMSTS certification and project management training are desirable
