Business Analyst, SC, NPPV3
We are currently looking for a Technical BA to join a leading central government organisation
Key Responsibilities:
- Elicit, analyse, and document business and technical requirements for data warehousing and secure data access.
- Collaborate with the technical lead, data engineers and data scientists to design and validate data pipelines, data models, and governance strategies.
- Translate business needs into clear, testable technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with business users to elicit key process flows and translate to functional and non-functional requirements.
- Support the design and implementation of secure data architectures, including access controls and compliance frameworks.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including data flow diagrams, system interaction maps, and process documentation.
- Create and maintain business documentation, including user journeys, process flows, mind maps, swim lane and work flow diagrams.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather requirements and validate technical solutions.
- Support service transition activities, including knowledge transfer, operational readiness, and documentation handover to ensure smooth transition into live service/BAU teams.
- Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and support QA processes to ensure solutions meet business and compliance needs.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies and support iterative delivery through backlog refinement, sprint planning, show and tells and retrospectives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst or similar technical role on data-driven projects.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data governance, and secure data handling.
- Proficiency or familiarity with SQL and data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI, or similar).
- Experience working with AWS services - particularly Glue, Redshift and IAM - is desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret data models, schemas, and technical specification documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with technical teams and convey complex and detailed topics to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile environments and using tools like Jira.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. GitLab) and technical documentation standards.
- Experience with data anonymisation techniques (e.g. pseudonymisation, re-identification risk) is a major plus.
