PRIVATE CLIENT SOLICITOR OR CILEX 3 plus PQE

Location: Essex/London

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 DOE

Our client is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join the Wills, Trusts & Probate Team. The role may be based at their head office in Essex, on a full-time or part-time basis.

This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload of private client matters.

The Role

An established role within the Private Client Department.

Proven background and enthusiasm for Private Client work, including:

  • Contentious Probate work, including claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants Act) 1975.
  • Preparation of Wills.
  • Administration of Estates for both business and private clients.
  • Lifetime and Post-Death Tax Planning.
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney.
  • Court of Protection Orders.
  • Residential and Nursing Care issues.
  • Trust formation and administration.

The role also involves active participation in marketing, article drafting, PR, business development, social media, and networking activities.

Your Experience & Technical Ability
  • Approximately 3+ years PQE.
  • STEP or SFE qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of contested Wills and Inheritance Act claims.
  • Experience acting for clients in contentious Probate matters.
  • Ability to advise and progress claims under IPFDA 1975.
  • Experience with disputes over Will validity, capacity, estate administration, and costs.
  • Preparation of responses to Larke v Nugus requests.
  • Understanding of Will preparation, including asset protection and tax mitigation measures.
  • Knowledge of inheritance, capital gains, and income tax principles as they relate to estate planning.
  • Experience with trusts, estate administration, taxation, and deeds of variation.
  • Preparation and registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney, especially for elderly clients.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and IT skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a good balance of technical and commercial awareness.
