Mechanical Contracts Manager

Founded in 2017, this established and dynamic Portsmouth-based Mechanical Contractor continues to provide traditional installation and maintenance services and has evolved into the provision of leading-edge renewable energy systems. They are synonymous with quality, innovation, and exceptional service, catering to both residential and commercial clients with a comprehensive suite of mechanical solutions.

They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to oversee mechanical projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Ensure full compliance with all company Health and Safety rules, policies, method statements, and safe systems of work, including those stipulated by third parties such as customers and contractor sites.
• Develop a strong personal concern for health, safety, and environmental factors for themselves and others.
• Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
• Manage multiple mechanical contracts, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry regulations.
• Oversee project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Ensure all work is completed within agreed budgets and timescales.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and suppliers.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues.
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations.
• Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and clients.
• Lead and manage project teams, including engineers, site managers, and subcontractors.
• Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Negotiate contracts and manage contractual obligations effectively.

Skills and Experience

• Mechanical engineering background with experience in HVAC, plumbing, or related fields.
• Recognised mechanical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or higher, HNC/HND, or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services).
• Proven experience in a similar Contracts Manager role within the construction or mechanical services industry.
• Strong understanding of contract law, procurement, and project management methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in Monday and MS Office Suite (training on Monday can be provided).

Remuneration and Package

• Base salary of £70,000
• Company car or car allowance
• Pension scheme
