Job Description:

Role: Area Manager

Reports to: Regional Manager

Location: 4 days in store, 1 day remote or office

Working hours: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday (1 in 4 Saturdays with 1 day off in the week - Tues, Weds or Thurs).

Job Purpose: A brand ambassador ensuring effective communication of the brand culture and values internally and externally. Deliver and exceed sales targets across multiple retail locations & formats through recruitment, training, development, and retention of high-performing teams focused on delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work alongside the Regional Manager to deliver the retail and wider company strategy.
  • Responsible for delivering the P&L plan and KPIs for the Area, focusing on payroll, controllable costs, and maximizing sales and profitability.
  • Take proactive action to minimize risks in the Area related to P&L performance, stock loss, cash handling, and payroll.
  • Create clear plans for each store, linked to KPIs and data, to maximize opportunities and address poor performance in service, operations, profit, people, sales, and manhours.
  • Use data and statistical analysis to challenge and influence strategic decisions, including stock packages, marketing, and visual presentations.
  • Act as a business partner with key functions like Visual, Operations, Finance, HR, and Marketing to support agile decision-making and formalize processes.
  • Manage new store openings and closures to optimize performance and minimize disruptions.
  • Ensure visual standards are maintained across the area, focused on customer experience and categories like Bras & Fragrance.
  • Build a store environment focused on continuous improvement and delivering a bespoke customer experience aligned with brand values.
  • Manage customer queries, feedback, and mystery shops to identify trends and local opportunities.
  • Lead and manage Store Managers within the area and support when covering other areas.
  • Own People KPI targets, ensuring key KPIs are maintained and improved.
  • Oversee employee wellbeing and engagement, listening to employee feedback for improvements.
  • Recruitment of Store Management roles and support lower management recruitment as needed.
  • Conduct performance and development reviews with management teams.
  • Ensure robust training and succession planning within the district.
  • Guide on employee relations issues, following policies and consulting the People Team when needed.
  • Promote inclusion and diversity, building trust and encouraging diverse thinking.
  • Act as liaison between stores and head office to maximize opportunities.
  • Identify support needs for stores and plan accordingly.
  • Lead stocktakes, repricing, sales, and promotions, liaising with Head Office.
  • Own stock control processes, ensuring compliance to minimize risks and losses.
  • Ensure all employees act safely and comply with policies, including health and safety, audit, and compliance procedures.
