We also offer a rotational programme to work in 3 areas over 18 months. This opportunity is designed to provide you with experiences throughout the children's hospital in areas of interest and offers the opportunity to gain a high dependency qualification during the final 6 months of the programme.

If you are a newly qualified nurse, we will support you during your first 12 months with our Preceptorship programme. This offers structured personal and professional development as you transition to registered practice and includes a supernumerary period, Introduction to Professional Practice (IPP), and a bespoke education pathway for all our clinical areas.

Main duties of the job

The role is to provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation & evaluation of individualised family centred, infant, child or young person focused programmes of care. You will deliver care without supervision & take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients & at all times promote confidence in our commitment to provide excellent compassionate family centred, infant, child or young person focused patient care. The role will involve taking charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse. You will participate in the in-service training, preceptorship & mentorship of junior staff, post basic learners & students as well as maintaining your personal development. The jobholder will work within an environment caring for infants/neonates, children and or young people in providing child or young person focused care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Child)
  • Has current registration on the appropriate part of the NMC Register or awaiting NMC Registration
  • Willing to undergo training as necessary


Experience

  • Ability to travel in between Trust premises and patient homes for posts that involve community visits.
