Job summary

The Lewisham Directorate is recruiting for the position of General Manager, Community Services on a six-month secondment basis. If you want to work in an exciting and evolving service, then this is the post for you.

The Interim General Manager for Community Services will be responsible for the overall management of a range of nominated services within the Operations Directorate. Working closely with colleagues, they will ensure excellent clinical, operational, and financial outcomes. The post-holder will work as part of a Services Management Team with other General Managers, the Deputy Director, Head of Nursing, and Borough Director.

Main duties of the job

The Interim General Manager will oversee the management of various services within the Operations Directorate, which will be managed by a team of General Managers and the Deputy Director. They will collaborate with relevant teams to ensure clinical, operational, and financial excellence. The role may also include responsibility for other borough, specialist, or national services, subject to review based on service needs. Additionally, they will liaise with national and local commissioners and support Local Care Network initiatives and the integration agenda.

  • Developing integrated pathways with evidence-based interventions, writing business cases, and leading staff and stakeholder consultations.
  • Managing services within budget, taking corrective actions when necessary.
  • Recruiting, motivating, and training staff in partnership with the Clinical and Deputy Director.
  • Ensuring continuous quality improvement and staff engagement in initiatives.
  • Participating in the senior manager on-call rota.
