Qualified Financial Accountant opportunity for leading university

Financial Accountant

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join a leading university and play a key role in managing financial reporting, treasury, and taxation functions. This is a leadership role, offering the chance to drive improvements and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

The Role

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, you will lead a team of six (4 FTE) and be responsible for:
  1. Managing the Financial Accounting Team, including appraisals, performance monitoring, development, and recruitment.
  2. Preparing quarterly and annual accounts for the Group and its subsidiary companies.
  3. Overseeing statutory returns and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Providing authoritative advice on Financial Reporting Standards, particularly FRS 102.
  5. Managing the treasury function, including cash flow forecasting and investment management.
  6. Leading on taxation matters, including VAT and corporation tax compliance.
  7. Ensuring robust financial controls and risk management procedures are in place.
About You

We're looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with:
  1. Strong financial accounting and reporting experience, including knowledge of FRS 102.
  2. Proven leadership skills, with experience in team management and development.
  3. Expertise in treasury management and taxation, including VAT and corporation tax.
  4. A keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  5. Experience preparing statutory accounts for complex organisations.
