Torbay Council is seeking a passionate and resourceful Engagement and Communications Officer to join the fast-paced Engagement and Communications Team. The role involves designing and delivering engagement, communication, and marketing campaigns to residents, partners, and staff, with a focus on supporting the development of Torbay’s proposal for Local Government Reorganisation.

The responsibilities include organizing engagement events (online and in-person), creating engaging content (videos, social media, press releases), working with creative designers, managing media relations, and evaluating engagement activities to improve service delivery.

Key duties:

• Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, websites, and press releases.
• Organize and facilitate engagement events and consultations.
• Collaborate with creative designers on campaign materials.
• Manage media relations and prepare responses to media inquiries.
• Assess and report on engagement activities to inform service improvements.

Ideal candidates will have:

• A passion for creating engaging, empowering content across various channels.
• Ability to simplify complex information into clear, accessible language.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent communication skills and curiosity to ask questions.
• Understanding of social media and marketing channels.
• Good IT skills.
