This position is responsible for repairing construction machines, component assemblies, and parts in the shop. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, ordering parts, writing technical reports, warranty reporting, maintaining company assets, and effective communication with team members.

Responsibilities:

  1. Repair equipment and components, including:
  2. Developing a repair plan and sequence
  3. Determining necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
  4. Performing repairs properly and safely, with quality assurance testing of repaired components, systems, and machines
  5. Complete reports legibly and promptly for parts ordering, tooling usage, daily service, and work order closure
  6. Communicate repair progress with supervisor as required
  7. Retrieve and return parts and materials via the company’s parts system
  8. Manage special tools and maintain proper care, including major shop equipment
  9. Use company vehicle and fuel cards responsibly
  10. Maintain a clean and safe work area
  11. Keep tools and equipment in safe, updated condition
  12. Follow all company policies and safety guidelines
  13. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager

Education, Experience, and Skills:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. An Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or four years of apprenticeship experience is preferred. Technician classification depends on experience, knowledge, and competence.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel. Also required to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch, crawl, and communicate verbally and in writing. Accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, weather extremes, and vibration. Noise level varies from moderate to loud.
