Job Description

Are you excited to work with young children under 5? Do you enjoy being part of a multi-disciplinary team where you learn something new every day? Are you committed to ensuring all children receive high-quality care and education every day? If so, Windmill could be the place for you!

We are looking to recruit highly motivated, experienced, and enthusiastic nursery officers to join our friendly and professional staff team at Windmill Children’s Centre and Nursery.

These roles are exciting, challenging, stimulating, and rewarding. We need you to have a secure knowledge of child development, the Early Years Foundation Stage, excellent communication skills, the ability to work in smaller group sizes with higher adult-to-child ratios, and an interest in working within a multi-disciplinary team as well as responding quickly in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidates should be excited to work with children with a range of needs and be dedicated, passionate, and committed to achieving the highest standards of quality in their teaching and learning. We want individuals who see the potential in our exceptional children and have the energy and enthusiasm to inspire and motivate every child to reach their potential.

You must have a minimum, full, and relevant early years Level 3 qualification and a willingness to develop skills to work with children who have additional and complex needs.

Successful applicants will be expected to take 20 days of annual leave at fixed times when the centre is closed, typically 2 weeks in summer, 1 week at Easter, and 1 week at Christmas, and to work 35 hours per week, with set shifts from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, 5 days a week, in a dedicated staff room for team collaboration.

In return, we offer a comprehensive training package, professional development opportunities embedded in reflective practice, experience working with wider families, and access to on-site professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and speech and language therapists. We are a friendly team supportive of each other, with good transport links and protected daily time for documentation to promote a healthy work-life balance.

Please note: These posts are based in the nursery at Windmill Children’s Centre. The nursery is not affected by the current Ealing Children’s Centres Consultation.

Ealing council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. The post will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

This role is subject to Ealing Council’s enhanced vetting process.

Visits to the Centre are encouraged and can be arranged by contacting interim Children’s Centre Manager – Beverley Kellett at bkellett001@ealing.gov.uk
