Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)

We are looking for an inspiring and dedicated English Teacher to join our dynamic team at an exceptional Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wandsworth. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher to work with students who are at a critical stage in their education, providing them with the skills, support, and motivation they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging English lessons for students who have faced barriers to learning.
  • Tailor lessons to meet the individual needs and abilities of each student, ensuring accessibility and progress.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to engage with English language and literature.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and support staff.
  • Track and monitor student progress, providing feedback and adapting teaching methods as necessary.
  • Work closely with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Encourage a passion for reading, writing, and communication through creative and engaging activities.
Who We’re Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English, ideally in an alternative provision or with students who have faced challenges to their learning.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and the ability to adapt it to suit the diverse needs of students.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students who may have experienced disruption in their education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
