Trainee Project Planner

Location: Clyde

The ideal candidate will have active SC Clearance or be eligible to undergo SC Clearance.

The Experis Academy offers an exciting opportunity for delivery-oriented individuals to be trained and upskilled as Project Planners within an international aerospace, defence, and security company. This role provides a chance to join Experis' growing Academy division, where you will be trained and developed while representing Experis on a leading engineering account. Our programmes aim to develop talent pools who may become permanent members of our industry-leading clients.

We seek ambitious candidates with strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. If you are looking to reskill or develop your project planning skills, this could be the perfect opportunity. The role is challenging but rewarding and requires excellent customer-facing and team-working skills.

You will support Project Planning activities within a delivery environment and collaborate with like-minded individuals to solve complex problems in the nuclear and infrastructure sectors.

As part of the programme, you will receive tools, experience, and training in project, programme, and portfolio management (P3M). Training will include project management, planning, controls, Primavera (planning/scheduling tool), and Excel. Courses will also cover soft skills such as negotiation, presentation, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution. The training is scenario-based, involving practical workshops.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Implementing and maintaining project structures
  • Developing and maintaining the integrated project schedule
  • Ensuring alignment between scheduling and financial/material demand tools
  • Providing regular status updates and analysis of schedule impacts
  • Creating resource/cost-loaded schedules to inform business planning and provide financial status updates

Minimum Criteria:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all levels
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Forward-thinking to anticipate potential issues
  • Professional commitment to quality and a passion for learning
  • Experience in a delivery environment within engineering, project, or construction management, or related fields
