Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer
About the Company: Our client is a leading company, predominantly serving the retail sector, providing refrigeration and air conditioning services to major brands. They are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will work a basic 40-hour week with overtime payments, potentially earning over £50k annually.
Salary: £17.50 per hour / £36,400 per annum + OT + Call Out (OTE £50K)
Location: Operating across the North West
Working Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
- Weekend Call Out: 1 in 4 (paid at 1.5x on Saturdays and 2x Sundays)
- 40 hours per week + Overtime
- You will be on a rota for a late shift Monday – Friday after your call-out weekend, which starts between 12 pm – 2 pm for 8 hours.
You will be paid 1.5x from 4:30 pm. This is based on 1 in 4 weeks (13 times per year), and you will be paid a minimum of 4 of the 8 hours at 1.5x the normal rate.
Overtime Calculation:
- Engineers work 1 in 4 weeks on a later shift, meaning 13 times per year (52 weeks ÷ 4).
- The shift runs from Monday to Friday (5 days).
- Overtime starts at 4:30 PM, with a minimum of 4 hours per shift paid at 1.5x the normal rate.
Overtime Pay Breakdown:
- Overtime Rate: £17.50 × 1.5 = £26.25 (overtime rate per hour)
- Overtime Hours per Day: 4
- Overtime Pay per Day: £26.25 × 4 = £105
- Overtime Pay per Week (5 days): £105 × 5 = £525
- Overtime Pay per Year (13 weeks per year): £525 × 13 = £6,825
Total Annual Salary: Base Salary: £36,400 + Overtime: £6,825 = £43,225
You will be provided with your own van, so a clean driver’s license is required.
Main Duties (not limited to):
- Carrying out PPM and reactive work on various refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
- Fault finding, breakdowns, and servicing of refrigeration and air conditioning (various types of systems).
- Fault finding of bespoke control systems.
- Maintenance and servicing of refrigeration systems.
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:
- At least 3 years’ experience in refrigeration systems.
- NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (not essential).
- FGAS Refrigerant Handling (City & Guilds 2079).
- Hydrocarbon qualifications.
- Extensive field experience in the refrigeration sector.
- Good communication skills (both written and oral).
- A full UK driving licence.
- Must be refrigeration biased, as 80% of our client’s work is on refrigeration systems.
