The Opportunity

Due to increased projects demand, our client, a leading defence consultant, are looking to bring in a Senior Systems Engineer on a contract basis. This role will be centred around model based systems engineering and ensuring maximum compliance and efficiency in system development and architecture.

Contract - This role has been deemed inside IR35

Duration: 18 months (minimum)

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Lead the design, development, and integration of complex systems in the defence sector.
• Delivery of an updated set of verification strategies covering all environment categories and technical disciples.
• Verification strategies to be generated through engagement with stakeholders from across the business. The strategies are to be fully logic linked and captured using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and integrated with established safety approaches.
• Support model-based practices for requirements, interfaces, trade studies, interdisciplinary integration, and analysis.
• Optimise the deployment and reporting to continuously improve the MBSE model.
• Supporting model development, maturity, and integration into with other MBSE tools and models within the company.
• Preparing reporting metrics to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
• The ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders including business leaders and subject matter experts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust engineering solutions that meet both client and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical expertise in hardware/software integration, ensuring seamless operation across systems.
• Develop and maintain systems architecture for complex projects, ensuring alignment with both functional and technical specifications.
• Contribute to the full systems engineering lifecycle, from initial concept through to testing, deployment, and support.
• Support system validation and verification processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

• Active SC security clearance with eligibility to obtain DV clearance
• Minimum 5 years of experience in complex systems engineering, with a focus on hardware/software integration or systems architecture.
• Demonstrated exposure (minimum of 3 years) to working in the defence or nuclear industries.
• Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, with experience in model based systems engineering or DOORS
• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, providing clear guidance and technical leadership.
• Experience working within security clearance environments, or the ability to obtain clearance.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering tools and software for systems analysis, design, and simulation.

It’s great if you also have the following

• Relative experience in the nuclear & defence sectors.
