Full time starting salary is normally in the range £32,546 to £35,116 with potential progression once in post to £39,355
Grade: 6
Full Time, Fixed Term contract up to June 2026 (maternity cover)

Role Summary
The University of Birmingham’s in-house Recruitment Team, which oversees all Recruitment activity at the University, are looking for a new Recruitment Adviser. In this role, you will lead on all aspects of recruitment for our varied customer base, including our academic Colleges and Professional Services teams.
You’ll be responsible for overseeing and advising hiring managers on advertising, interview, and onboarding processes. You will also act as the first point of contact for specific areas of the University and lead on outreach activities to attract and communicate to candidates for jobs. In addition, you will participate in Recruitment-related projects and assist in the delivery of training.

Some Recruitment Advisers in the team have line management responsibilities, but this is not a universal requirement of the role.
This role does not own a budget.
Planning and Organising
The role is required to plan and co-ordinate recruitment activity across the University: this involves advising managers on recruitment, and directly managing recruitment activity and assessment processes for some roles. The role holder therefore needs to be able to plan and manage their time to deliver effective recruitment support.
Problem Solving and Decision Making
The role is thinking and operating within the University’s policies and procedures, as well as any statutory requirements. Informed and guided by recruitment best practice, they are required to improve the processes to ensure that the University gets the most out of their recruitment activity. In reviewing the recruitment effectiveness and identifying improvements, the role will therefore need to be evaluative and analytical.
Internal and External Relationships
The role will need to communicate extensively with managers across the University, advising and supporting them in their recruitment activity. They will also need to communicate extensively with external candidates, and as such need to be a positive ambassador for the University of Birmingham.
